Professor Sir Jonathan Bate talk: 'Mad About Shakespeare'

‘In the process of writing this memoir, I discovered that it was, among other things, a tribute to Sevenoaks – especially to my great English and Drama teachers John Adams, Alan Hurd, Jon Campbell and Bob Taylor. In my talk I’ll try to convey the excitement of that golden age in the school’s continuing history of visionary education.’

Sir Jonathan (OS 1976) is one of the world's leading Shakespearean scholars, a biographer, critic, broadcaster, playwright and poet. He is Foundation Professor of Environmental Humanities in Global Futures, Arizona State University. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of Worcester College Oxford, where he was Provost, Professor of English Literature in the University of Oxford, a Fellow of the British Academy and of the Royal Society of Literature and served on the Board of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

In 2015, he became the youngest person ever to be knighted for services to literary scholarship.

We are honoured to be hosting a talk and book signing by Sir Jonathan on Tuesday 7 June at Sevenoaks School, 7.30pm. This is a free event.
