A new history of Sevenoaks School is published

On Wednesday 8 May we were delighted to host a book launch for Mike Bolton, former Undermaster at Sevenoaks School. Mike’s new book, A School Transformed: Sevenoaks School 1898-2002, is an insightful view of the school’s 20th century history, from the appointment of Headmaster George Heslop in 1898 to the appointment of the school’s first female Head, Katy Ricks, in 2002.

It is one of several histories of Sevenoaks School, following 20th century accounts by John Rooker, JT Lennox, Brian Scragg and others, and complements Mike’s 2010 account of the Sevenoaks Almshouses.

Mike worked for Sevenoaks School for almost 40 years and was awarded an MBE in 2009 for his services to education.

The book is published by Phillimore and is available to buy for £12.99 at foundation@sevenoaksschool.org or the Sevenoaks Bookshop.

All proceeds will be donated to the bursary fund.
