Science and Technology Experience Evening

One year after the opening of the Science and Technology Centre, Sevenoaks School Foundation organised a Science and Technology Experience Evening for parents, Old Sennockians and others who had contributed to the project.

It was a fun, hands-on and enlightening experience with groups invited into the classrooms to sample lessons in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Technology. Many commented on how different lessons are now compared to when they were at school!

“Moving into this building has changed the way we teach, in the way we can forge links between the sciences and collaborate across the departments.”

- James Tate, Head of Physics.

In the past year, some incredible experiments and research activities have taken place in this building: you can watch a video highlighting just some of these.

The construction of the Science and Technology Centre, along with the Global Study Centre, was part of Sevenoaks School’s Horizon 2020 campaign. Parents, Old Sennockians and friends of the school raised just over £10m to build the two centres.

This includes 20 science laboratories and four technology workshops. The aim was to inspire curiosity and scientific enquiry, as well as encourage technological innovation.

Parents said it had been a great insight into the wonderful new facilities, with one adding, ‘Now I know what my children do each day.’
