Primary Care Treatment Centre at Sevenoaks School

An appointment-only primary care treatment centre is being set up in the Duke’s Meadow car park at Sevenoaks School to support our communities through the COVID-19 outbreak.

Primary Care Treatment Centres are just one of the changes local GP practices are making to ensure the safety of their patients and staff during the pandemic.

The centre will enable the Sevenoaks Primary Care Network (PCN), which is a group of GP surgeries in the Sevenoaks area working together, to split patient care across different sites.

Patients will be referred to the primary care treatment centre by their GP or via NHS 111. It is not a testing centre or a walk-in service. Anyone who turns up at the site without an appointment will not be seen.

Patients will be assessed via video and telephone appointments, avoiding unnecessary risk and travel but there will be occasions when people need to see a clinician face-to-face and these patients will be given an appointment to come to the centre. It will mean that the normal primary care needs of patients who have Covid-19 symptoms can be met at the centre, while other local GP practice premises aim to remain virus free.

Dr Navin Kumta, GP and Chair of NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: 'We are very grateful to everyone involved who has mobilised so quickly to put the new temporary arrangements in place.'

Dr Anjali Melethil, Clinical Director of the Sevenoaks Primary Care Network said: 'We have been working closely with Sevenoaks School to set up this much-needed facility. Any help that reduces the pressure on the NHS at this time is critical and we’d like to thank Sevenoaks School for all their support.'

Theresa Homewood, Head at Sevenoaks School said: 'Thank you to all our staff for their hard work in getting the new centre up and running.'

'We are looking to support the NHS in every way we can. This is a real community effort and it is by everyone working together that we will all get through these difficult times.'
