Sporting highlights

Cross country

At the final junior cross country event of the season hosted by Danes Hill, our girls team finished first with Victoria Kern (Y8) finishing second overall. Ben Catchpole (Y8) continued his amazing season with a first-place finish.

Curling

Our junior curling team won the England Schools’ Novice Champions Cup. This Year 8 team (coached by Helena Kiggell, L6) are the 2022 English Schools' Novice Curling Champions. Well done to Henry Wilkinson (skip), Lily Dunster (vice-skip), Charlotte Bloodworth (2nd), Noah Houston (Lead).

Helena also earned a silver medal with her team at the England Curling Junior Championships. She skipped the team, and their coach Anna Fowler (6x England doubles champion) tweeted, 'Future World Champions - you heard it here first!'

Fencing

Amelie Tsang (Y11) has been selected to represent the Senior Great Britain side at the FIE Senior World Cup in Belgrade.

Golf

During the Easter break, Tom Day (L6) represented Kent U18.

Over Easter, Sanjana Sharma (Y9) participated in two tournaments. The first one was the KLGU Limuru Open and her club team (MGC) won the inter club game. The second one was the US kids golf tournament where she won in her category.

Hockey

Victoria Kern (Y8), Lara Bailey, and Tilly Smith (both Y9) with Sevenoaks HC U14 girls’ team were tier 1 national plate winners after beating Alderley Edge 7-0.

William Galloni and Moritz Hippe (both Y9) were also tier 1 plate winners with HC Knole Park U14 boys after beating Winchester 9-2.

Ines Gascoyne-Day, Georgina Hadden and Celia Foster (all Y9) were tier 1 cup winners with HC Knole Park U14 girls beating Beeston 7-1.

Amber Croll, Bella Munoz, Summer Knight-Thompson (all Y10), and Phoebe Gough-Cooper (Y11), were tier 1 cup winners with HC Knole Park U16 girls also beating Beeston 7-1.

Connie Coquelin (Y7) scored the winner in the final, playing alongside Imogen Smith (Y7), to crown the HC Knole Park U12s regional champs.

Lacrosse

Jemima Korvin (U6) represented England B at U20 age group. They managed to beat Wales As 11-10, England As 10-8 and Scotland As 18-7, so won U20 Home Internationals.

Netball

Kammy Bussey's U16 netball team (Telstars) have qualified for the national netball finals next weekend. It is the highest attainable level for club netball at the age. Best of luck!

Rowing

Congratulations to Sean Northwood (U6) who has been selected on the GB Rowing Start Programme.

Sailing

The Royal Lymington Yacht Club hosted the RS Feva Spring Championship with 51 entrants on March 26-27 2022. Sevenoaks School was represented by eight Year 10 sailors racing in four RS Feva's at the national level regatta.

Both days had three consecutive races on a three lap race course with fantastic sailing conditions on the Solent with the wind ranging from 8 - 14 knots. 

All the sailors had some great moments throughout the regatta and lots of valuable experience gained.

Izzy Johnnson (Y8) raced in the UK Team Racing Championships (UKTRA) with her father. Andy Cornah, the school’s sailing coach, was also in the team. The team won overall which makes Izzy the youngest winner of this national title. She also competed in the Topper National Inland Championships which had over 100 boats entered, placing 10th overall (fourth girl) which is her best result at a national series event.

Swimming

There were some fantastic results at British Swimming’s Junior Championships 2022 with Demi Alli (Y10) and Chengze Duan (Y9) achieved the qualifying times, Zach Raymond (L6) swimming in the 100FC. Well done to Izzy Okaro (Y10) who made Paris Potential in the 50 FC Final finishing as the ninth fastest junior with a PB. Huge congratulations to Eva Okaro (Y10) who is British Junior Champion for 50/100 FC and a brilliant second place in 50FLY.

Tennis

Oscar Brown (OS 2020) has started the tennis varsity at Portland University with some very good team and individual results.
