Annual Shooting Dinner 2016

This year’s shooting dinner saw the union of old and new members as we welcome in a new era for the squad. In celebration of what brought us together we enjoyed a meal with our fellow shooters, and heard speeches from our Fullbore and Smallbore Captains, as well as an Old Sennockian whose shooting career stemmed from the school. The focus of the speeches was the meaning and significance shooting had in each of our lives, emphasising its unifying ability and the beauty of the escape from normal life it offers.

Ellie Hoolahan, who has now represented Great Britain and left the school in 2005 told the squad about how shooting has added to her life, which resonated amongst the old shooters as the new additions to the squad are learning. Sasha Radkovskii, our Club Captain, and Cecilia Cal, our Fullbore Captain, commented on the close-knit atmosphere in the squad describing it as a family. This family has survived a record low after the closing of the range, being reduced to 12 members for over a year, and continuing to compete.

With the arrival of a new range and a new order of things, our squad was brought up to 54 members as we met all together for the first time since September 2014, rebuilding a successful and happy club with a bright future.
