Sevenoaks School has been shortlisted for Independent Boarding School of the Year in the Independent Schools of the Year awards 2025.
The Independent Schools of the Year (ISOY) awards celebrate the innovative and life-affirming student experience which independent schools provide to their students.
The nomination recognises Sevenoaks School’s commitment to provide a learning environment that prioritises diversity, inclusion and sustainability, supporting students to become global citizens ready to navigate an ever-changing world.
The school’s boarding provision has been enhanced with a new sustainable, state-of-the-art boarding house, New House, which opened last year. New House accommodates 60 girls creating equal boarding capacity for boys and girls. With eight boarding houses, Sevenoaks is home to 450 boarders who are educated alongside 800 day students, with 76 different nationalities represented in the student body.
Jesse Elzinga, Headmaster at Sevenoaks School said, ‘We are delighted to be shortlisted for Independent Boarding School of the Year in 2025.
‘New House reflects the international feel of the school. Our commitment to inclusion is reflected in our daily practices, from our Boarder’s Olympics and student-led cultural activities to our comprehensive pastoral care system.
‘We have many avenues for student voices to be heard. Through committees, working groups, surveys, open forums, and discussions, students are encouraged to express their opinions and shape the everyday life of school.
‘This prepares them to be leaders in creating a better, more inclusive and sustainable world.’
A list of Finalists will be published on 9 September and the winners, chosen by the Independent Schools of the Year judging panel made up of sector leaders, will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
