Award-winning author Professor Ben Ansell (OS 1995) has published Why Politics Fails: The Five Traps of the Modern World & How to Escape Them (Penguin). In his first book for the general reader, Professor Ansell draws on examples from Ancient Greece to Brexit to illustrate how we can overcome self-interest and deliver on our collective goals.

Sex, Spies and Scandal: The John Vassall Affair (Biteback Publishing) by Alex Grant (OS 1992) is the story of John Vassall, a civil servant who was  unmasked as a Soviet spy in 1962.

Thomas Heatherwick CBE (OS 1984), designer, highlights the epidemic of boring buildings in Humanise: A Maker’s Guide to Our World (Penguin).

Vanessa Kisuule (OS 2009), poet, performer and Forward Prizes judge, released her non-fiction debut Neverland:  The Pleasures and Perils of Fandom (Canongate). Vanessa examines the nuances of ‘fandom’ and invites us to question the dangers of idolising and villainising individuals.

In Lucem, the debut novel by Julian Kitsz (OS 2018) with cover illustrated by Harry Carley (OS 2018), is a dark historical and psychological mystery, set in 1969 against the gothic landscape of the prestigious Huxley College.
