RIBA South East Awards 2022

Sevenoaks School’s Aisher House has won a RIBA South East Award 2022.

The RIBA Awards are regarded internationally as a mark of excellence, recognising the best architecture and architects. A RIBA Regional Award is given to a UK building for its regional importance as a piece of architecture.

Aisher House, designed by Tim Ronalds Architects, opened in 2019 and is the newest of our seven boarding houses. It provided invaluable support during 2020 and 2021 when a few boarding students stayed at school during lockdown.

When we were planning a new boarding house at Sevenoaks, our ambition was to create a building without corridors which would feel like a home for the 60 students who would live there.

Tim Ronalds understood our educational and pastoral vision, bringing it to life in Aisher House, an inspiring and welcoming building in which bedrooms are positioned around warm social and study spaces filled with natural light.

Aisher House will be considered for a RIBA National Award in recognition of architectural excellence; the winners will be announced in June.

The building was funded by Sevenoaks School Foundation and is named after the Aisher family, who are among the school’s greatest historical benefactors. The family’s legacy lives on in Aisher House.
