Sporting highlights

Athletics

On Sunday 14 May,  Harriet won the U17 Kent championship 100m and 200m with a PB of 12.27s for the 100m (New School Record). Brianna Kuranga finished third in the Shot Put (U15) and Ollie Brooke came third in the 100m (U20).

At the English Schools Athletics Championships, our inter girls' and inter boys' teams (Y9 and 10) qualified for the regional finals which will take place in June. Our junior boys finished third and we will have to wait on other results to see if they’ve qualified for the next round. A particular congrats for our inter girls who scored a remarkable 451 points which should see them qualify for the nationals in July and currently sits them second in the country with their combined score. Exciting times ahead!

Basketball

Elodie de Jong has been selected for the England U14 squad for the upcoming Tri-Nations tournament.

Powerlifting

On Saturday 29 April, Freddie Pointon came 13th in the 2023 British Junior Powerlifting Championships in Solihull.  Competing in the sub-junior (under 18) and under 66kg category, Freddie's combined total across the 3 lifts was 410kg, comprising 135kg squat, 87.5kg bench press and 187.5kg deadlift.  The bench press and deadlift were both new PBs for Freddie.

Tennis

Emily and Tasia won the prestigious National Schoolgirls' Doubles Championships tournament in the U14 age group. Congrats!

Thirty-six students have represented the school in the Kent Tennis Doubles Festival. Congratulations to Matt and Tommy who won the Y9/10 Boys, Vadim and Daniel who were runners up in the Y7/8 Boys, Ruby and Isa who won the Y7/8 Girls and Emily and Tasia who were runners up in the Y7/8 Girls.

A number of our students represented Kent Tennis at the County Cup national finals in Nottingham, well done to Matt, Tommy, Ruby and Isa.

Rugby

Sevenoaks competed in a mixed touch rugby tournament with a squad of 12 players from Year 9 . This is part of a new initiative introduced by the RFU to drive participation within the non-contact version of the game and it’s particularly exciting given it’s mixed gender involvement along with the potential opportunity to take part in a finals day at Twickenham next spring. Sevenoaks went unbeaten and qualify for the next round in June.

Old Sennockians

Nicholas Davies has been awarded the prestigious F. Wilder Bellamy Jr. Memorial Prize at Yale. His father recognised his ability to juggle the sailing and academics which was facilitated at Sevenoaks. Read
